Thisstoryisbasedwheretheskateboardcultureisthemostforeign,theMidwest.DerrickCabrera,likeallskaters,hasadreamofbeingsponsoredandonedaygoingpro.Heisanupandcomingskaterwithallthetalentbuthastheworldagainsthim.Parents,friendsandschoolmatescan’tunderstandhowDerrickhassomuchpassionforsomethingthathasnofutureintheireyes.Hiscrewoffriendsthatareskatersistheonlyplaceheistrulyaccepted.But,ashegetsbetterandbetter,theskaterhelookeduptothemostbecomeshisworstenemy.Inthesportofskateboardingasingletrickthathasneverbeendoneorconceivedcanbringyoustardominaninstant.Derrickhasthattrick,ifonlyhecanmakeit.Asheattemptstomakethistrickheisfacedwithskateproofing,ajealousfriendandcopswhohaveitinforhim.Derrickfinallygetsarrestedforskatingonprivateproperty.Afterthathisparentslaydownthelawandtrytoforcehimtoquitskateboarding.Addinginsulttoinjury,hisgirlfriendforcesanultimatumonhimaswell:"Theskateboardorlifewithher."Atthatpoint,DerrickgivesupeverythingandrunsawaywithhisfriendstotheTampaAmcontestinFlorida.Thisisaweekendthatcanturnanunknownskateboarderintoafuturestar.Heseesitashisonlyshottomakeitinskateboarding.Derrick’srivalrycomestoaheadinFloridawhenhiscrewoffriendsabandonshimbecauseofhisjealousmentor.Atopamateur’ssisterrescuesDerrickbygivinghimaplacetostayandconvincinghimtobelieveinhimself.Withalltheworldofskateboardingwatching,Derrickfinallymakesthetrickthatshockstheentireskateworldandinstantlythrustshimintothespotlight.Hisdreamofbeingsponsoredhascometrue.
